Backyard Flora Wreath

December 5, 2010

The one holiday project I wanted to do this year was make a wreath from materials gathered in our own backyard. So this morning before the giant rainstorm hit, I went out and trimmed some stuff and then sat on the patio and put it together.

What a fun project! Let’s see. I used: juniper (from a huge arbor vitae we have), boxwood, bottlebrush, rosemary, magnolia leaves/buds, rosehips, and some colored leaves from an unidentified tree. And some berries from also unidentified tree. I love it. It’s exactly what I wanted.

It does smell good, all spicy and woodsy. It turned out better than I hoped. I got a resusable wreath base so I can make one every year.
