help! I don’t want to want them! UPDATE! happy ending

April 24, 2011

Taking cute to a new level around here.

They are way. way. way. way. way sweet and adorable and good and not barky and very very cute. Did I mention adorable?

This is bad. There are a number of reasons why we Can’t Keep Them. They chased Thomas (barking joyfully). We have a very sick little Katie. We’re not ready for two dogs. We’re not ready for ONE dog.  Not to mention: we are already stressed out to the max. See: sick kitty. Also, see previous posts about being overwhelmed. Also: two new mouths to feed, when Katie is eating like five cans of food a day (she’s very sick, but she is eating like a horse!). We are, unfortunately, not made of money. Also, Thomas is getting tired of being shut in the office.

However.

However.

See: below:

Dear owners: please call soon!! We can’t keep these adorable babies but we can’t surrender them to an unknown fate at the shelter!

I know what I will be doing tomorrow: calling every vet, groomer, and rescue organization in town. I hope we can find their owners. They are really such good sweet dogs, they need to be at their (real) home.

Update!

They are now back home! The owners saw one of our signs and called and came and got them tonight. Trixie and Tori, King Charles spaniels. Super duper adorable, and now safe and back where they belong. We are a little sad but mostly so relieved. Thank goodness for happy endings.

i really hope you hear from the owners. as much as you dont want them, it WOULD NOT give you a good feeling taking them to the shelter.

but i totally agree, dogs are a lot of work. after having just gotten rid of one, i can honestly say im much happier being a one dog household.

Yay!! Owners called and they are safe back home. We miss them already but it was a good trial run. Yes, we want dogs. No, we don’t want them *quite* yet.

These two were so good and cute and sweet, I wouldn’t have minded the two of them. But so glad they are back where they belong.

im so glad for the happy ending. did you ever find out what the deal was with the owners? i mena, how did their two dogs go missing at the same time? we’re they out of town as you suspected?

Apparently they slipped out of the gate (didn’t close correctly or something) and then just went for a stroll! They hadn’t been gone long when we picked them up. Probably their owners would have found them, but they were on a busy road, so it wasn’t going to be safe to leave them anyway. Alls well!

I know, we were giddy with relief! And then we were sad, because we were starting to fall in love with them (even though we could NOT keep them…)

Whew! A narrow escape. But gosh they are cute. Their owners must have been really relieved and grateful.

Very! We have been missing them all day and we only had them one night! I can’t imagine what their household was going through without them.
