taking it easy

May 28, 2011

We are taking it easy this weekend. It’s been a rough week, and last weekend was super-busy with Terri’s dad in town, plus Katie-care. We’re catching up on sleep, resting lots, snuggling Thomas a lot.

Poor Thomas. We are the neediest mamas ever. We need another kitty (at some point) — we are practically fighting over him, as the single cat in our house. “I need a snuggle!” “No, I need him!” “Thomas, come here, kitty kitty!” “Thomas, over here! I have a treat for you!”

Next weekend there is a huge adoptathon in our area. Hundreds of kittens, cats, puppies and dogs ready to come to our house. For free. Yes, for FREE. It’s a big event. We are going to have to chain ourselves to our house. Two bereft, needy, sad animal-lovers do NOT need to be wandering around looking at little adorables who need a home. Might as well just go in with cargo pants and a fishing vest and stuff our pockets full of kittens. “We’ll take them all!”

Not to mention, we will be doggie-sitting Terri’s sister’s two dogs for a week and a half starting next week. So we’ll have a full house.

Bluto (chillin’ on the left) is a gorgeous, easy-going friendly Golden Retriever. Penny (sleeping in, right) is a super-cute little golden/corgi/something mix. They are completely adorable and we are really looking forward to having them. They’ll be with us for about a week and a half. Can’t wait. It’ll be good practice since we’re seriously thinking about getting a dog this summer.

And another cat.

and maybe one more cat.

and one more dog.

Or maybe three more cats and three more dogs. And then some bunnies.

All kidding aside, we are sad and missing our girls. Thomas is being a good boy and doing his best to comfort us.

awww, im sure thomas doesnt mind having to give up some extra love. but i have to say, you two have a lot more will power than i. i’d be at that adoptathon in a heartbeat. as it is i am totally hankering for a kitten after what you posted on facebook. (which i watched about 10 times, rewinding it to the part where the kitten starts to squirm and mama hugs her. sigh. sooooo cute)

but terris sisters dogs (your dogs-in-law?) are adorable and i’m sure you guys are going to have a ton of fun. Since penny is part corgi does she have those short corgi legs, i cant tell from the picture? if so, i totally want to see a picture of her standing. i LOVE corgi legs.

I think it’s going to be pretty amazing if we somehow manage to either stay home, or come home empty-handed. We will have the two dogs… but… KITTENS!!!!!

The dogs are so sweet. Yes, Penny has those cute little corgi legs. She’s all kinds of adorable.

I’m sure Thomas is enjoying providing all the extra snuggles. Terri’s sister’s dogs are serious cute. I suspect you won’t be able to stay away from the pet adoption next weekend. Just sayin.

I know. We may need someone to padlock the house. With us inside.

I don’t think I mentioned it before, but I am so sorry for your loss. You have been through a lot of grief lately, more than your ‘fair share’ as they might say. I think your household is definitely deserving of a stress-free, tragedy-free fun summer!!!

As you talked about the pet adoption event I couldn’t help but hear the Borg in my head, “Resistance is Futile”.

That’s what I’m thinking. (thanks. it’s been a rough spring in many ways)
