new couch!

July 6, 2011

Finally! What a mess, trying to get this couch home. Very, very, long story. Let’s just say that we spent most of yesterday on the phone with the home store and the truck company, trying to figure out where the couch was. It was supposed to be here by 9:30 in the morning (actually, it was supposed to be here last Saturday…). At the end of the day, the home store finally said, “Actually, you are not going to get your couch today,” (and I lost my temper). And then, miraculously, fifteen minutes later, the truck showed up with our sofa. Wha? Well, whatever. It finally came. We love it. It’s sooo comfy. It’s the corner piece and one arm of a sectional. We really wanted something big and comfy and floppable. (as in, you walk in the room and just flop onto the couch). It’s like a daybed. It’s perfect.

Now we can finish the room (eventually): art, rug, window treatments, fireplace insert, etc. But now that the couch is here and the TV is up, we can relax and enjoy the living room.

Which is what I’m doing today. Sitting on the couch, reading a James Herriot book, watching bad TV and enjoying air conditioning.

Happy vacation to me!

    i love this couch!

we’re in need of a new couch. but, because ours is kinda old, i dont always worry if someone spills their ice cream on it or something like that. (side note:kids are messy and gross.) maybe when the girl is a bit older we’ll spring for a new one.

where did you get this lovely purple specimen?

I bought our old couch (new) for $350, so that tells you how great it was. $350 NEW. From a no-name store near UC Berkeley. Yeah.

This lovely specimen is a complete 180. We got it from JC Penney, after looking (in vain) at Macy’s, La-Z-Boy, Pottery Barn, etc. etc. This was the most comfortable couch we found and it was pretty much exactly what we wanted, and it came in purple! AND, it was at least half price, if not more, due to one of Penney’s fabulous furniture sales.

        ooh good to know.

ive always wanted a pottery barn couch but their prices on big ticket items tend to scare me off. its good to know that a JCP couch is just as comfy.
