It’s Love

July 23, 2011

Meet Chelsea. Seven years old, ready to be loved furrever.Adopted today from Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue.  Terri wasn’t feeling well so I went up to Sacramento myself to meet Miss Chelsea, crossing my fingers that I could make a good decision on my own. The owner had told us about her specially (she isn’t featured on the website) so I didn’t have anyone else in mind. The owner of the sanctuary (it’s an amazing place) had had her in the house with them because she’s been recovering for the past year or so from acute liver failure, when she was brought in. She almost died. But, thankfully the story has a happy ending, and this sweet, calm, cat-friendly, snuggable, loveable, girl is ours.

I don’t think we could have found a better dog for us. She’s very calm, walks pretty well on the leash, is great with other animals, and extremely food-motivated (boy, is she ever!) so I think training will be pretty easy. We’ll give her some time to settle in and then enroll in an adult “family dog” class to brush up on doggie basics.

But right now, we’re all content to just share the love. Welcome home, Chelsea.
